When drying biomass there are three types of driers available: Belt driers, drum driers and flash driers.  Heat is produced from an external heat source such as a boiler powered by either pellets, green wood chips, dried sawdust, diesel or gas. 

 

Hot water passes through a water to air heat exchanger creating hot air. The hot air is then passed over the “wet” fibre resulting in a reduction of moisture content down to the desired level. 

 

RTG will design a drying system to match the type and volume of biomass fibre available.  Each system has advantages/disadvantages that need to be weighed when choosing the right type of drier for your system.
